Sometimes You Have to Let Others Have a Turn

So the Bluegrass State Games are finally over and done for another year. I know you all are probably as glad as I am

to see them go. As much as I love getting out there any taking pictures, the heat and amount of driving around I have had to do for them in the past 4 weeks is by far the best reliever in seeing them be done with.

But I can gladly say that I took over 3,000 photos myself over the course of it (if even more than that) and I didn’t even cover all the events! But what I wanted to talk about in this post is that I didn’t do everything myself. I think something to always keep in mind is that even though you may want everything to be your way, don’t forget to let other people have a chance too. (More …)

So Many Sports – Only ONE Photographer!

So the Bluegrass State Games finally arrived. And only two weekends in, I’m exhausted! It has been hot temperatures here in Kentucky (hello 90s!) so that makes the running around town a little harder to handle. But the amount of people (athletes, parents and siblings alike) that have turned out to participate has been incredible! I talked to some families that drive to and from home each day – some of those being hours away – just so their child can participate. They don’t seem to mind sitting out in the blazing sun for hours on end just to cheer on everyone, even during games from other counties they never have even met!

Scheduling for the Biggest Loser !

So this week, I regret to say, there were no photos for me to take. But that didn’t mean there wasn’t work to be done. Therefore, I switched to the marketing side of things. iHigh has a direct partnership with the annual Bluegrass State Games held throughout the state of Kentucky (though mainly in Louisville and Lexington) during the month of July.

    Greetings from the Bluegrass State!

Hello there! I’m new to the blogging sphere for AU Interns so let me take this opportunity to introduce myself.

My name is Amanda Zimmer and I am an upcoming junior at American University majoring in Broadcast Journalism with minors in Marketing and Studio Art Multimedia. In my two years at American, I’ve really immersed myself in all the opportunities that the university and city of Washington, D.C. offers. I am extremely active within the School of Communication, serving my second term as president of the Undergraduate Council as well as an ambassador to perspective and first-year students. I am also involved with the Kogod School of Business as the vice president of communication for the Kogod Marketing Association and a new brother of the business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi. As you can see, I keep pretty busy! But I love it and wouldn’t want it any other way.

Living in the DC area, I have had some amazing opportunities and internships thus far that have really allowed me to get out into the city and meet a variety of people. Check out more below the cut on my internship experience both in Washington and my hometown of Lexington, Kentucky.
